Active Shooter Training Exercises on Mar. 22

On Wednesday, March 22, from noon to 10 p.m., the University Police Department will conduct active shooter training exercises in conjunction with the San Diego County Sheriff’s Special Enforcement Detail. The training will take place in the Student Health and Counseling Services Building and Science Hall 2.

The exercises will involve sounds of gunfire as participants will make their way through the buildings with mock firearms. Campus community members may notice an increased presence of emergency and law enforcement vehicles.

The safety and welfare of our campus community is our highest priority. Conducting and planning for this exercise will allow UPD to access its emergency response, interagency coordination and recovery efforts after such an event.

Student Health and Counseling Services will be closed from 12 to 2 p.m. in support of this activity. We apologize for any inconvenience this training exercise may cause. Should you have any questions, contact the University Police Department at 760-750-4567.
