Brenna Sandberg Named Second-Team All-American

Brenna Sandberg Named NAIA Softball Second-Team All-AmericanCal State San Marcos pitcher Brenna Sandberg has been named to the NAIA Softball All-American Second Team, the NAIA announced Wednesday.Sandberg becomes the first Cougar softball player in the program's four-year history to be named an All-American.  The junior led the nation in wins and innings pitched this season, going 38-12 with a 1.26 ERA and 318 strikeouts in 328.1 innings of work.  She was the driving force behind the team's run to its first A.I.I. Conference Championship, tossing back-to-back no-hitters in the team's first two post-season games.  Sandberg was also a 2009 and 2010 A.I.I. All-Conference selection, and she was named 2010 A.I.I. Pitcher of the Year.CSUSM softball finished its season as the #5-ranked team in the nation with a 40-15 record.  The squad qualified for its first NAIA National Championship, where it was eliminated after going 2-1 in pool play.Link:  http://naia.cstv.com/sports/w-softbl/spec-rel/052610aag.html
