Press Release | By Eric Breier

Renowned pianist Ching-Ming Cheng, an associate professor of music in Cal State San Marcos’ School of Arts, will perform at the California Center for the Arts, Escondido at 3 p.m. on Sunday, April 9.

Tickets are available through the California Center for the Arts, Escondido website, at the center’s box office or by calling 800-988-4253.

Cheng is a classically trained, award-winning piano virtuoso who has wowed audiences around the world, touring both as a soloist and as a collaborative pianist.

CSUSM’s music program is in the process of purchasing its first Steinway Performance Grand Piano after successfully raising nearly $150,000 from generous donors following a privately hosted concert featuring Cheng.

CSUSM has begun a campaign to raise additional funds to become an All-Steinway School, a prestigious designation held by fewer than 200 conservatories, colleges and universities worldwide.

Being an All-Steinway School will provide CSUSM students with the best instruments possible for the study of music. It will enhance the performance levels of students while assisting the University in the recruitment of students and faculty.
