CSUSM Named Top School by Military Advanced Education

Press Release by Margaret Chantung

California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) has been designated a Top School by Military Advanced Education in its 2015 Guide to Colleges and Universities. The guide, which measures best practices in military and veteran education, recognizes schools that provide optimal programs, flexibility and support services for military members and their families. This is the second year in a row that CSUSM has earned this distinction.

CSUSM is Proud to be Military Friendly

Cal State San Marcos is “military friendly”—honored every year since 2010 by Military Times Edge and G.I. Jobs magazines—and selected for the last two years as a “Top School” by Military Advanced Education—thanks to the University’s welcoming culture, and the unique educational services and programs offered to veterans, active duty military personnel and their family members. In fact, CSUSM has more veterans per capita than any other California State University campus.

“We see Cal State San Marcos student veterans as future captains of industry, servant leaders and outstanding citizens in the communities in which they live and work,” said Veterans Services Director Patricia Reily. “Our goal is to set the gold standard of best practices for success in transitioning military personnel from active duty through higher education and into sustainable careers.”

CSUSM’s veteran-friendly approach to higher education is also supported by such initiatives as the War at Home and Abroad digital history archive project, the Veterans Student Support Fund and veteran specific scholarships.
