Student Solo Exhibit to Open at CSUSM Art Gallery, Nov. 15

News Release | By Margaret Chantung

The California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) Art Gallery is pleased to showcase a student solo exhibit of paintings and photography by Sean Boyd, a senior majoring in visual and performing arts, from Friday, Nov. 15 through Saturday, Jan. 4.

For this body of work, Boyd focused primarily on the energy he felt within himself. Mood dictates the paintings' destination and “freestyle” form was embodied. For most of his paintings, emotions rather than concise thinking were visualized and most were finalized within a day as the artist wanted to capture the feelings of that specific moment.

The photography is an accumulation of interesting objects, subjects and events the artist captured over time. Experimentation was vital to the Boyd’s ideas as he sought to make his images abstract and rely more on chance then on control.

The CSUSM Art Gallery, located at 1080 W. San Marcos Blvd., offers free admission to the public and is open every Friday and Saturday evenings from 5 to 8 p.m. A reception and meet-the-artist event will be held on Sunday, Sept. 1 from 1 to 5 p.m. during the Sunday Art Walk at Old California Restaurant Row.
