APIDA Student Center Celebrates Grand Opening
Cal State San Marcos’ Asian Pacific Islander and Desi American (APIDA) Student Center has been in the planning stages almost since a student success workgroup was formed in March 2021 with a charge of assessing the needs of APIDA students and recommending ways to enhance their success.
That work came to fruition on Oct. 21 when the APIDA Student Center celebrated its grand opening.
Located in University Student Union 3600, the APIDA Student Center serves to educate, perpetuate and celebrate APIDA cultures with the CSUSM community while supporting student success to graduation and beyond.
Speakers at the grand opening event included Allura Murray-Cruz, the assistant director of the center; Viridiana Diaz, vice president of Student Affairs; and Theresa Suarez, a sociology professor who was the project director and principal investigator for a project called Unifying APIDA Communities Together, or U-ACT.
All students are welcome to participate and engage with the APIDA Student Center. Learn more about getting involved.
