Campus Safety Alert - Lockdown Lifted

Update at 11:00 a.m.

The suspect was identified as a member of the CSUSM staff and deemed to be unarmed and not a threat. It was his umbrella and carrying bag that had been misidentified as a weapon.

Update at 9:35 a.m.

Contact was made with suspect. No weapons were found.  The campus has been cleared to return to normal activities.

CAMPUS SAFETY ALERT

California State University San Marcos is currently on lockdown due to a suspect on campus possibly carrying a rifle. The suspect is a white male, bald, wearing a black shirt and jeans.

All individuals should remain on lockdown and barricaded until further notice.
