Timely Warning Crime Bulletin: Aggravated Assault in Student Housing

This Timely Warning Bulletin is being issued in compliance with the Jeanne Clery Act and the purpose is to provide preventative information to the campus community to aid members from becoming the victim of a similar crime.

On Saturday, October 21, 2017 at approximately 3:15 p.m., a student and visiting friend were victims of an assault and battery in student housing. An unknown suspect knocked on the door; when the door was opened, the suspect forced his way into the dorm room assaulting one individual and biting another. The two individuals were able to fight off the suspect who fled the area.

Suspect

White male, approximately 18 years old, with short brown hair, wearing a turquoise shirt, blue jeans and white shoes. At this time it is not known if the suspect is a student or not and it is not known how he gained access to student housing.

If you see this person or someone matching the description please do not attempt to contact, but call UPD at (760) 750 -4567 immediately.

Prevention Tips:

  • Be alert for subjects loitering in an area with no particular purpose.
  • Trust your instincts. If you feel unsafe in any situation, go with your gut. If you see a situation in which a person may be assaulted, contact law enforcement immediately by dialing 911.
