Student Deadline Extended: Diverse Learning Environments Survey

Due to low response rates, CSUSM is extending the deadline for students to respond to the Diverse Learning Environment (DLE) Survey. Eligible students now have through Friday, May 5, to respond to this important survey. Each sophomore, junior and non-graduating senior was sent a unique survey link from heri@vainc.net on behalf of the Office of the President on April 3, 11, 17 and 24. We will be sending out a final announcement to students on Tuesday, May 2, and we greatly appreciate your assistance in encouraging student participation. All survey respondents will be entered in a raffle for a semester parking permit (a $338 value), and five runners-up will receive $50 Amazon gift cards.

To learn more about the DLE, visit http://csusm.edu/ipa/surveys/dle.html or read below.

The DLE is a national survey conducted by the Higher Education Research Institute (HERI) at UCLA. It is designed to capture student perceptions regarding the institutional climate, learning outcomes and campus practices as experienced with faculty, staff and peers. Diverse student populations are at the center of the survey, and the instrument is based on studies of diverse student bodies and the complexity of issues that range from student mobility to intergroup relations.

CSUSM participated in the DLE for the first time in dpring 2015. Results from the survey, some of which are available at the link above, will contribute to ongoing efforts to assess campus climate, undergraduate learning outcomes and progress of the Diversity and Inclusion Strategic Plan.

Currently enrolled first-time students who were admitted prior to fall 2016 are eligible to participate in the current administration of the DLE, as are transfer students who were admitted prior to spring 2017, provided they have not applied to graduate in spring or summer 2017. All individuals must be 18 or older to participate. Please note that graduating seniors also received recent survey invitations, but for the College Senior Survey rather than the DLE.

Please contact Cameron Stevenson in Institutional Planning & Analysis (cstevens@csusm.edu) with questions.
