Anthropology Professor Named Faculty Director of NLRC

Cal State San Marcos anthropology professor Konane Martinez has been appointed as the new faculty director of the National Latino Research Center.

As faculty director, Martinez will oversee new projects analyzing data from the 2020 U.S. Census and the border region, as well as projects on pesticide awareness and education for farmworkers throughout the state.

The mission of the NLRC is to promote scientific and applied research, training and the exchange of information that contribute to the knowledge and understanding of rapidly growing U.S. Latina and Latino populations. 

Martinez is an applied medical anthropologist with more than 20 years of experience working with Latino immigrant communities in the U.S.-Mexico border region.
