CSUSM Returns to Normal Operations, Monday, Dec. 11

Update: Dec. 10, 2017, 11:15 a.m.

As danger from the Lilac Fire dissipates, CSUSM will continue to monitor the situation, but our campus will return to normal operations on Monday, Dec. 11. The University Library will reopen at midnight tonight.

We extend our gratitude to the firefighters, law enforcement personnel and volunteers who worked tirelessly to protect the property and safety of members of our region. Our thoughts continue to be with those who have been impacted or displaced by fires throughout our state.

Many are wondering how they can help with recovery efforts. The San Diego Foundation’s regional disaster fund is accepting donations for Lilac Fire efforts at their website. In addition, the United Way of San Diego is working with the United Way of Greater Los Angeles, which has set up the Southern California Wildfire Fund to help victims. Donations to the United Way can be made online.

If any CSUSM students, faculty or staff are in need of support, the University is here for you. For students, contact SOAR at 760-750-SOAR. Faculty may call the Office of Faculty Affairs at 760-750-8362. Managers and staff may call the Office of Human Resources at 760-750-4418.

Update: Dec. 8, 2017, 11:55 a.m.

In response to the Lilac fire, which remains at zero percent containment with an evacuation order in effect for parts of North County, CSUSM will remain closed through Sunday, Dec. 10, 2017. All classes and events during this time are canceled. As there are no direct threats to the university at this time, housing will remain open.

The safety of our community is our top priority and our thoughts are with all of those who have been directly impacted by evacuation orders and the fires.

We will continue to monitor the situation this weekend and will provide further notice on Sunday, Dec. 10 by 1 p.m. regarding the opening of the campus on Monday, Dec. 11.

Update: Dec. 7, 2017, 7:10 p.m.

No assignments or tests will be due during the campus closure. Automatic extensions will be offered and special accommodations provided as needed - students should check with their faculty members when campus reopens. This applies to online classes as well.
