Announcing the Retirement of Associate Vice President Mary Hinchman

Date: November 1, 2017

To:     CSUSM Faculty and Staff

From: Neal Hoss
Vice President, Finance & Administrative Services

After more than twenty years of dedicated service to the University and the Finance and Administrative Services division in particular, Associate Vice President Mary Hinchman will retire effective December 31, 2017. Her last day in the office will be December 15, 2017.

Since joining CSUSM in 1994, Mary has made numerous pivotal contributions to ensure the financial integrity and continued growth of our relatively young campus. Mary has served as a budget coordinator, analyst and director, and for the last ten years has been a very effective strategic leader as associate vice president of Business and Financial Services (BFS). Mary has helped to steer the campus through good times and difficult times, never losing her focus of serving the mission of the University with uncompromising integrity. A consummate team player, she collaborates with campus partners, supports and develops her colleagues to improve departmental processes and encourages her team to perform at their highest capacity to meet the needs of the campus community while complying with regulatory requirements.

Mary is to be commended for her extraordinary leadership and contributions to the financial well-being and future success of CSUSM.

Clint Roberts, our University controller, will serve as interim associate vice oresident effective January 1, 2018. Clint is a licensed certified public accountant and MBA, and since 2013 he has served the University with his experience directing and managing all aspects of accounting and financial reporting. I look forward to working with Clint in this expanded capacity.

Details on a campus-wide reception celebrating Mary’s retirement will be released in the coming days. In the meantime, please join me in congratulating Mary on an exemplary career at CSUSM and wishing her well in this next phase of her life.
