Associate Director of the Black Student Center Open Forums: Nov. 29, Dec. 1, 6 and 8

The search committee for the Associate Director of the Black Student Center at California State University San Marcos has selected four candidates to interview and welcomes all members of the campus community to participate in open forums. Below are the dates, times and locations of each open forum, followed by a brief professional biography of each candidate:

Dr. Jessica Williams

November 29, 2016

12 p.m.

Dr. Jessica Williams holds a Doctorate of Philosophy in Leadership Studies from the University of San Diego, a Master’s Degree in Professional Counseling from the University of West Georgia, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Tennessee. Dr. Williams has worked as the Coordinator of Curriculum Training and in counseling for the Garrett L. Smith and JED Foundation Suicide Prevention Grant for Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration at the University of West Georgia. Dr. Williams also worked for the Center of Diversity and Inclusion and as the SOLES Admissions, Outreach, and Social Media Coordinator, as well as the Outreach Coordinator for the Department of Counseling and Marriage and Family Therapy Department at the University of San Diego. Dr. Williams currently teaches Black Feminist Thought at California State University San Marcos and serves as the Graduate Coordinator for the University of San Diego.

Ariel Stevenson

Ms. Ariel Stevenson holds a Master’s Degree in Sociological Practice from California State University San Marcos and a Bachelor’s Degree in Sociology and Political Science with a minor in Latin American Studies from Albright College in Reading, Pennsylvania. Ms. Stevenson has served as an Information Specialist and the Registration Coordinator in Enrollment Management Services at California State University San Marcos. Ms. Stevenson currently works with the Office of Diversity, Educational Equity and Inclusion as the Diversity Coordinator at California State University San Marcos.

Ms. LaPorcha Ingram

Ms. LaPorcha Ingram holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Leadership from the University of San Diego and a Bachelor’s Degree in Communication from Appalachian State University. At the University of San Diego, Ms. Ingram served as the Campus Assault Resource Education Advocate and provided supervision in the United Front Multicultural Center. At the University of California, San Diego, Ms. Ingram was an advisor for Greek Life and currently serves as the Coordinator for Student Involvement in Student Life and Leadership at California State University San Marcos.

Mr. Anthony Jett, Sr.

December 8, 2016

12 p.m.

Mr. Anthony Jett, Sr. holds a Master’s Degree in Higher Education Leadership from Northcentral University in Prescott, Arizona, and six years of experience in higher education, including Project Director of the Upward Bound Program and Talent Search at Malcolm X College in Chicago, Illinois. Mr. Jett has also served as the Project Director of the Educational Opportunity Center and the Benton Harbor ConnectUp! Program at Lake Michigan College in Benton Harbor, Michigan, where he also teaches business and college success courses.

Each candidate will provide a 15-minute presentation that will be followed by a period of questions and answers from open forum attendees. Evaluation forms will be provided and will be due no later than 5 p.m. on  Friday, Dec. 9. Your feedback in this search process is valued and we hope you are able to attend.
