Bookstore Rentals Due by Dec. 18

Any student with books rented from the CSUSM Bookstore should return their rented books to the bookstore during open hours (9 a.m. to 2 p.m.) before the closing on Dec. 18. Below are the answers to some questions you might have about the details of these returns.

1. Are there fees or penalties associated with not returning book rentals or returning them late?

Yes, there are late fees associated with not returning rentals by the due date on Dec. 18. The fees are listed on a student's rental account. Fees depend on the book rented.

2. Are there any penalties for books being returned with more wear and tear?

Yes, if the book is returned in damaged condition (moisture/liquid damage, missing/torn pages, etc.) the student will have to "convert to purchase." That fee is also listed under your rental account, per book rental.

3. Can books be returned without entering the bookstore?

Yes, rentals can either be mailed in (shipping paid for by customer) or returned to the bookstore dropbox (not the library dropbox). If you ship a rental to the bookstore, simply include your rental return form inside the packaging. Also if shipping, please plan at least five business days in advance for the book to arrive on time. If you are returning via the bookstore dropbox, please make your return before closing on Dec 18 to avoid late penalties.
