CSUSM To Celebrate End of Comprehensive Campaign

Cal State San Marcos will announce the final total of its first comprehensive fundraising campaign during a campus celebration on Thursday, Feb. 7.

The total will be unveiled by President Karen Haynes and Jack Raymond, chair of the CSUSM Foundation Board, during the ceremony, which starts at noon at Kellogg Plaza, just outside the university library.

The announcement will be made to an audience that includes students, faculty and staff. It will follow the first public announcement earlier in the day during Haynes’ 15th annual Report to the Community address.

The campaign, called Forward Together, began in 2012 with a goal of $50 million and officially closed on Dec. 31, 2018. The three pillars of the campaign were preparing tomorrow’s leaders, building great communities, and solving critical issues.

Founded in 1989, CSUSM is the youngest university in the 23-campus California State University system, and likely in the nation, to undertake such an ambitious fundraising initiative. The Forward Together campaign was necessary because CSUSM as an institution and the regional demand for its services continues to grow, while the percent of money that the state provides for operating costs has decreased to 55 percent.
