CSUSM To Host Candidate Forum

What:Candidate Forum at Cal State San Marcos, featuring some of the candidates running for office in the district where the University is located, including the 50th Congressional district, the 38th State Senate district and the 75th State Assembly district. The event is sponsored by CSUSM’s Associated Students Inc. and Office of Government Relations in a collaboration designed to educate the campus community and promote student participation in the democratic process. “I’m excited for a candidate forum on our campus because it will allow students to participate in civic engagement,” said Michelle Tran, the ASI vice president of student and university affairs. “The reality is that there has been a diminishing pattern of voter turnout within our generation.” CSUSM does not endorse any of the invited candidates in this non-partisan program. The candidates who have been invited are Jeff Griffith and Brian Jones, both running for the 38th State Senate seat; Alan Geraci and Marie Waldron, running for the 75th State Assembly seat; and Ammar Campa-Najjar and Duncan Hunter Jr., running to represent the 50th Congressional district. The forum will be moderated by Jade Hindmon of KPBS.
