Celebrate Earth Day 2015 at CSUSM

In celebration of Earth Day 2015, California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is pleased to host several events, free and open to the public, in partnership with Associated Students, Inc. and the CSUSM Sustainability Club.
Recycling Competition
Tuesday, April 21 at noon
Kellogg Plaza
Students, participating individually or in teams, will create an art piece from provided recycled materials. Winners will be selected by the audience and will be eligible for a range of prizes.
Documentary on Oil Dependence and the Fight for Clean Energy
Tuesday, April 21 at 6:30 p.m.
University Student Union, ballroom
“The Burden,” a new documentary that tells the riveting story of oil dependence and how the U.S. military is leading the fight for clean energy, will have its west coast premiere at CSUSM. Directly following the conclusion of the film will be a panel discussion with four leading experts and leaders in the fields of sustainability and energy independence: Rear Admiral (ret.) Len Hering, Environmental Advocate and Lobbyist Eve Simmons, President of the TESSI Endangered Species Institute and Electrical Engineer Tom English, and former Gunnery Officer and Nuclear Engineering Officer Andrea Marr.
Bike to Campus Day
Thursday, April 23, 7 to 10:30 a.m.
Campus Way Circle
This event, sponsored by the Office of Commuter Services, SANDAG, Bicycle Warehouse and Seattle Sports, CSUSM students, faculty and staff who live in the area to cycle to campus to promote cycling culture in the community. Riders who stop by a booth located on Campus Way Circle between 7 and 10:30 a.m. are eligible for refreshments and a free mini bike light.
