Celebrating with the Class of 2013

More than 20,000 guests celebrated the achievements of CSUSM graduates at four commencement ceremonies held on campus on Friday, May 17 and Saturday, May 18, 2013. With nearly 3,000 graduates in the Class of 2013 — the University’s largest graduating class — CSUSM now has over 30,000 alumni. In addition to earning bragging rights as the largest graduating class in CSUSM history, the Class of 2013 boasts impressive points of pride. One in six undergraduates received academic honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher, and 41 percent are the first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree.Standing Ovation for Oldest GraduateAt the College of Education, Health and Human Services ceremony, history was made as CSUSM’s oldest graduate earned his fourth degree (third master’s degree). At age 90, Wally Taibleson received a standing ovation from his peers as he crossed the commencement stage to earn his M.A. in Education.
