Center ARTES Hosts 3rd Annual Art in Your HEART! Fundraiser for K-12 Arts Education

Center ARTES Hosts 3rd Annual Art in Your HEART! Fundraiser for K-12 Arts EducationThe third annual Art in Your HEART! benefit hosted by Center ARTES at California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) will be held on Saturday, Oct. 30, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Visual and Performing Arts Building. Proceeds from the event will fund the delivery of art education programs to K-12 schools across San Diego County via the ARTSmobile, a mobile classroom. The afternoon includes a reception, light refreshments, as well as tours of campus art studios.Art often has the effect of helping children develop the creativity and skills to become better students and ultimately more productive citizens, but school budgets have cut or severely limited art education and field trips in public schools. The cost of delivering art education via the ARTSmobile is only a dollar per student. On average, 350 students participate in art programs every time the van is dispatched to a school."This event has become a significant source of funding for Center ARTES. Just one dollar can bring an art experience to a student," said Center ARTES Executive Director Merryl Goldberg.  "A $350 gift would mean we could add another school to our list.  A $1,000 gift would mean we could reach one thousand students!"Tickets are $200 per person at the Patron level, $125 per person at the Associate level, $75 at the Friend level, and a special Educator rate of $40 is offered for classroom teachers.  Donations of all sizes are also accepted. In addition to raising funds for arts education, the evening will also honor three individuals for their significant contributions to the arts: Education Philanthropist and Art Enthusiast Bob Mangrum for Arts Philanthropy, Artistic Director of Orchestra Nova San Diego Jung-Ho Pak for Artistry, and the Escondido Union School District for Arts Education. For more information or to purchase tickets, contact 760-750-4408 or e-mail rarlene@csusm.edu.
