The Class of 2015 Counts Down to Commencement

CSUSM will celebrate the achievements of its more than 2,600 graduates in the Class of 2015 at five Commencement Ceremonies held on campus May 15-16, 2015.

Notably, one in six undergraduates has earned academic honors with a GPA of 3.5 or higher. More than half of the graduating class is the first in their family to earn a bachelor’s degree, and over 40 percent of are from historically underrepresented student populations. Class of 2015 also boasts the largest cohort of ACE Scholars with 13 former foster youth earning degrees. As President Karen Haynes personally congratulates and shakes hands with each graduate, the Class of 2015 will bring CSUSM alumni to just over 35,000.

Commencement Schedule
May 15 at 10 a.m. – College of Business AdministrationMay 15 at 1 p.m. – College of Science and MathematicsMay 15 at 4:30 p.m. – College of Education, Health and Human ServicesMay 16 at 9 a.m. – College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences (Ceremony A)May 16 at 1:30 p.m. – College of Humanities, Arts, Behavioral and Social Sciences (Ceremony B)

More than 21,000 total guests are expected to attend the five ceremonies held on Mangrum Track and Field. Each ceremony will last approximately two hours and will be broadcast live at csusm.edu/commencementlive.

CSUSM will award two honorary degrees at commencement. An Honorary Doctorate of Humane Letters will be awarded to retired business and civic leader Joseph E. Bear at the 1 p.m. ceremony on Friday, May 15, and an Honorary Doctorate of Fine Arts will be awarded to influential jazz alto saxophonist Charles McPherson at the 1:30 p.m. ceremony on Saturday, May 16.

The Class of 3 Million
The impact of alumni from all 23 California State University campuses, which includes Cal State San Marcos, is unparalleled. With the graduation of the Class of 2015, the CSU will surpass the milestone of having three million alumni.
