IITS to Upgrade Campus Network Equipment in January

As part of the CSU Common Network Initiative (CNI) equipment refresh plan, IITS is partnering with engineers from Deloitte to upgrade the campus network equipment in early January. CNI's mission is to maintain the baseline network infrastructure of CSU campuses. This equipment refresh will take place between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. on the evenings of Jan. 2, 4, 6, 8 and 10.  Interruptions to be expected during these times include

  • Jan. 2: Interruptions between the campus network and the internet.
  • Jan. 4: Wi-Fi networks will be intermittently unavailable. Networking in Science Hall 2, Science Hall 1, Markstein Hall, Kellogg Library, University Services Building, Public Safety Building, Student Health & Counseling Services, Center for Children and Families, Parking Structure 1, Clarke Field House, Extended Learning Building and Parking Structure 2 will be down.
  • Jan. 6: The campus data center will be offline, so most servers will be unavailable.
  • Jan. 8: Networking in the Administrative Building, Academic Hall, Social and Behavioral Sciences Building, University Student Union, Sports Center, The QUAD, Arts Building, University Commons, Veterans Center, McMahan House, Viasat Engineering Pavilion and Central Plant will be down.
  • Jan. 10: The campus data center and Arts Building will be down.

In addition, thorough testing will take place between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. on Jan. 12, which may cause brief interruptions to connectivity.
