CSUSM and Carlsbad Unified School District to Sign MOU, Dec. 4

Who: California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) President Karen Haynes, Carlsbad Unified School District (CUSD) Superintendent Suzette Lovely and other champions for improving university accessibility for Carlsbad youth.

What: CSUSM and CUSD will sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) to provide increased college preparation, guaranteed admission and ongoing academic support to qualified graduating seniors. The agreement launches a program that takes effect with the graduating class of 2017.

When: Wednesday, Dec. 4, 6 p.m.

Where: Carlsbad Unified School District Office - 6225 El Camino Real, Carlsbad

Why: To ensure that students from the city of Carlsbad are academically prepared for college and to provide guaranteed admission placement should they meet minimum California State University requirements and deadlines.

Additional: CSUSM has previously signed other similar agreements with Vista Unified School District, Fallbrook Union High School District (and including Fallbrook Union Elementary School District, Bonsall Union School District, and Vallecitos School District), Oceanside Unified School District, Temecula Valley Unified School District, San Marcos Unified School District, Escondido Union High School District (and including Escondido Union School District), the Valley Center-Pauma Unified School District, San Pasqual Academy, San Diego County Health and Human Services Agency, the Riverside County Public Social Services Agency and a Native American tribe.
