CSUSM Hosts a Free Community Pre-Screening of "The Hornet's Nest", Apr. 28

Media Advisory by Margaret Chantung

California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) is proud to present a free community screening of “The Hornet’s Nest” on Monday, Apr. 28 at 5:30 p.m. in the University Student Union Ballroom. Immediately following the screening there will be a question and answer session with members of the production team. This film will open in limited theaters on May 9 and expand to additional cities on May 16 and 23.

“The Hornet's Nest" follows Peabody and Emmy Award-winning ABC News Journalist Mike Boettcher and his son Carlos Boettcher, who were armed only with their cameras when they were embedded with U.S. forces fighting on the front lines in Afghanistan amid the constant threat of the Taliban. The film unfolds a true story of survival for the soldiers, and for the father and son team who seek to re-connect under the most harrowing of circumstances.

Sponsored by CSUSM’s Associated Students, Inc. and the Student Veterans Organization, this film exemplifies the heroism and courage of our military personnel who face endless gun battles, roadside bombings, and sniper fire from an invisible enemy. Every American who sees this powerful film will gain a greater understanding of the heroism and sacrifice made by our soldiers and Marines in combat to protect our freedom.
