CSUSM Hosts Premier North County Business Networking Reception and Trade Show, Dec. 17

Media Advisory by Whitney Frasier

The California State University San Marcos (CSUSM) College of Business Administration (CoBA), in collaboration with senior students and businesses, will host the Fall 2015 Senior Experience Business Reception and Trade Show, December 17 at 5:30 p.m. This free event is open to the public. Over 500 people from the community and local businesses are expected to attend.

The complimentary wine and hors d'oeuvres reception, sponsored by Harrah’s Resort, ViaSat, Inc. and Wells Fargo, provides a premier networking opportunity for companies and future business owners. It will conclude with keynote speaker Nels Jensen, editor-in-chief of the San Diego Business Journal.

At the trade show, students will be showcasing company-sponsored projects featuring a wide variety of proposals such as a rebranding initiative for a popular Hilton Resort in Carlsbad and an office optimization plan created for Stone Brewing Co.

This semester more than 50 companies, both locally and nationally recognized, enlisted seniors from CSUSM to research, propose, and develop solutions for common workplace needs. Interested sponsors are encouraged to attend to gather ideas on the breadth and quality of the types of projects that can be done.

“Smaller companies really benefit from the program because it’s an affordable option for them to receive quality work and draw exposure at the trade show,” said Ed Ashley, director of Business Community Relations at CSUSM. “We have repeat sponsors every semester, from well established companies to entrepreneurs, trying to get their businesses off the ground.”

For a flat fee of $1,500, companies receive about 750 man-hours over a four-month period. The student teams are assigned a faculty advisor to guide them through their assigned objectives.

Registration for the reception is requested and includes complimentary parking. Students are not permitted to attend the reception, but are welcome to attend the trade show. For more information contact Ed Ashley, director of Business Community Relations, at 760-750-4266.
