Defensive Driver Certification Notice

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, transportation incidents are the No. 1 cause of fatal work injuries. The CSUSM Safe Driving Program was developed to reduce the risk of injuries related to employees driving on University business.

All state employees (faculty, staff, student assistants, and special consultants) and registered volunteers who drive on University business must complete defensive driver certification, which includes training and document submission components. The certification is valid for four years.

Information regarding what constitutes driving on University business, how to access the training, what documents are required, exemptions to the program, and more is located on the Safe Driving Program webpage.

Auxiliary employees should consult their employer to determine their specific driving program requirements.
