Earth Week Celebration Events, Apr. 16-21

Let's all celebrate mother earth April 16-22 in honor of Earth Day! We have a week-long list of events planned for you. Check them out.

Events

MONDAY, APR. 16
Swap Shop for Earth Week
12–5 p.m.
USU Forum Plaza

Bring your unwanted, gently used clothing and appliances to the USU Forum Plaza any time from 12 to 5 p.m. and feel free to grab anything from the Swap Shop that fits you and your needs! We will also be accepting donations in the ASI office, USU 3700. If you want to drop donations off a week before the event, please only donate items that are easy to carry, in working condition and gently used. Don't miss out on this opportunity to collect new things for free and also participate in upcycling reusable produce bags from unused T-shirts.

TUESDAY, APR. 17
People for the Planet
11:30 a.m.–1:30 p.m.
Kellogg. Plaza

Environmental Studies Club will be hosting People For the Planet, which will be featuring special surprise guest speakers talking about the impacts and solutions of climate change. Make sure you're there to witness this event firsthand and inspire you to make a difference. Help us collect signatures to redevelop the Climate Change Action Plan in the City of Escondido. Last year, we collected over 150 signatures for the city of San Marcos.

TUESDAY, APR. 17
Marathon for Justice Movie Screening & Conversation
5:30–8 p.m.
University Hall 100

On Tuesday night, join us for Marathon for Justice, Movie Screening and Conversation. The Safety, Risk and Sustainability Department along with the Office of Inclusive Excellence will be hosting a movie night in the University Hall 100 on environmental justice. Bring your friends and enjoy a night of free food, meaningful conversation and a super empowering film discussing how environmental and social justice are interlinked.

WEDNESDAY, APRIL 18
Sustainable Speakers Series
1–2 p.m.
Markstein 104

The Sustainability Club will be hosting the Sustainable Speaker Series, featuring discussions by leading edge innovators and change makers from the community who want to share their experiences with you and encourage you to strive to make a difference. Come and feel inspired by the special surprise guest speakers leading discussions on sustainability, innovation and environmental justice.

THURSDAY, APRIL 19
It Affects Us
11:30 a.m.–1 p.m.
USU Forum Plaza

CSUSM will be having our first-ever Earth Day Extravaganza called It Affects Us. This very special event will be focused on how climate change affects students and the community at large. Learn about how you can be the change you wish to see in the world and how you're affected by climate change on a personal level. You definitely don't want to miss this event with free sustainable foods, ecofriendly giveaways, live music, performances, photo booth and interactive games on the Forum Plaza.

FRIDAY, APRIL 20
Kick Butt
Friday, Apr. 20

CSUSM will be hosting theirlast Kick Butt event collecting cigarette butts from campus. Volunteers receive a free T-shirt, food and also get to participate in fun games and activities with new friends. SATURDAY, APR. 21
Beach Cleanup
12-2 p.m.
Oceanside Pier

Join Ocean Conservation Club for their last beach cleanup of the semester. Buckets, gloves and food will be provided. Bring your friends and look for a blue canopy and orange buckets on the south side of the pier.
