Farmers Market a Fresh Addition to CSUSM

Farmers Market a Fresh Addition to CSUSMShop at the Cal State San Marcos Farmers Market every Wednesday, beginning May 13 from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. for locally produced and grown ingredients to mouth-watering meals! The CSUSM Farmers Market, sponsored by the Farm Bureau of San Diego County, will feature approximately 25 vendors every week.  Visitors to the market will have the opportunity to select from a large variety of fresh, locally produced, healthful produce including San Diego grown fruit, vegetables, eggs, honey as well as enjoy demonstrations, music, artisanal breads and prepared foods, tastings, and more.  The market is certified by the state, ensuring that the produce is being sold by the grower, is grown in California, and meets all California quality standards. "The Farmers Market is yet another way the university can reach out in service to the larger community," said Dr. Jan Jackson, dean of extended learning and associate vice president for community engagement. "It provides an opportunity for faculty, staff and students to engage with members of the community while shopping for fresh produce, artisan foods, and unique arts and crafts in an open air atmosphere.  The Farmers Market is just one more reason that Cal State San Marcos is a destination location for members of the greater San Marcos community, whether stopping by on their way home from work or soccer practice or just taking a late afternoon break from classes.""The Farm Bureau is very excited to have this opportunity to sponsor a farmers market at Cal State San Marcos," said Casey Anderson, membership and marketing manager at the Farm Bureau of San Diego County. "The Bureau encourages participation by local organizations to make it a neighborhood destination for information on upcoming events and also a place to visit with neighbors. We look forward to partnering with residents to make this a community market that reflects the character of San Marcos."What:  CSUSM Farmers MarketWhen:  Every Wednesday from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. beginning            May 13Where: CSUSM, 333.
