Harry E. Brakebill and Wang Family Excellence Awards Nominations - Due May 18, 2018

Harry E. Brakebill Distinguished Professor Award NominationsNow Being Accepted

Instructional faculty and librarians (lecturer and tenure-track) may be nominated by colleagues, students and/or staff. The awardee is chosen on the basis of “outstanding contributions to their students, to their academic disciplines and to the campus communities.”

Individuals interested in nominating a professor should contact that professor and ascertain their willingness to be nominated. The individual nominating a distinguished professor must formally submit a letter which substantiates the nomination. This letter should state how you know the nominee, her/his qualifications and (for students) the courses you have taken from the nominee.

Nominations due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18. Your formal nomination letter may be submitted as an e-mail attachment to: Academic Senate Office, or submit letter to Academic Senate Office, Kellogg 5004.

Wang Family Excellence Award Nominations Now Being Accepted

Faculty* may be nominated by colleagues, academic administrators, alumni and students.

The awardee is chosen on the basis of having made truly remarkable contributions to the advancement of their respective universities and/or the CSU system in the following ways:

  • Involving students in their research
  • Arranging and supervising student internships
  • Involving students in Community Service
  • Recruiting students
  • Publishing

Individuals interested in nominating a professor should contact that professor and ascertain their willingness to be nominated. The individual nominating must send a letter indicating how they know the nominee, a statement of his/her qualifications as an outstanding professor, and, if a student, courses they have taken from the nominee. The faculty member must be tenured or tenure-track. Statewide, one tenured or tenure-track faculty member will be selected from each of the following academic discipline groupings: Outstanding Faculty-Teaching; Outstanding Faculty-Service; Outstanding Faculty-Scholarship; Outstanding Faculty-Innovator in Student Success.

Nominations due by 5 p.m. on Friday, May 18.

*Faculty members nominated for the Wang Family Excellence Award must have participated successfully in a ampus peer-academic administrative review process such as the reappointment, tenure and promotion or faculty merit award of teaching, research or scholarship grant processes. These reviews must have occurred no earlier than the 2012-13 academic year.
