Keith Butler Selected as Next Campus Climate AdvocatePresident Karen S. Haynes has selected Keith Butler as the next Campus Climate advocate.  Butler, associate dean for Extended Learning, will assume this post at the beginning of the 2009/10 year for a two-year term.  In January, he will begin working closely with Marion T. Reid, the current advocate.The Campus Climate advocate portfolio, which reports to the president, was created to promote projects and ideas that contribute to a positive campus climate.   Its focus is the campus strategic priority Campus Climate, which is described as follows.Recognizing that our ability to excel is a function of our ability to work together as a team, Cal State San Marcos promotes a climate of camaraderie, mutual respect, and trust for all members of the university through support, effective communication, and sustained professional development.Campus Climate advocate duties include serving as the program director of the Campus Connect Program  and as the president’s liaison to the Staff Appreciation and Development Committee (SAND).  See http://www2.csusm.edu/campusconnect/ and http://www2.csusm.edu/sand/ for more information about these initiatives.President Haynes states, “Appointing our next Campus Climate advocate at this time allows for a purposeful succession in this important post.  I thank Marion Reid for her work in this area since 2005, and look forward to working with Keith Butler as he moves into the position.”
