CSUSM to Host Inaugural Lowrider Experience on Sept. 23
Press Release | By Eric Breier
The Cal State San Marcos Latino Association of Faculty & Staff and University Police Department have teamed up to host the inaugural Lowrider Experience from 4-10 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 23 on campus.
The event will showcase lowriders as an art form and will include a feature film screening, live music, free raffle giveaways and children’s activities, all while concurrently celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month.
The event is free and open to the public.
The goal of the event is to establish an annual gathering among CSUSM students, faculty and staff, the University Police Department and the neighboring communities.
“Our goal is to bring the community together with lowriders as the focal point of the event in order to establish a relationship and help bridge the gap between law enforcement and the lowrider community,” said CSUSM Sgt. Herman Hernandez, who is co-chairing the event with Celia Martinez, Student Coordinator/Project Specialist in CSUSM’s Office for Training, Research & Education in the Sciences. Both are members of the University’s Latino Association of Faculty & Staff.
Attendees will also have an opportunity to engage and interact with some of CSUSM’s student organizations, faculty, staff and members of our local police departments.
