Neufeldt to Address Community as Longtime Event Moves to Fall

As Cal State San Marcos emerges from the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, President Ellen Neufeldt will deliver her annual Report to the Community on Thursday, Sept. 30, stressing the university’s role as a powerful engine for good.

More than 500 individuals representing a broad cross section of regional business, nonprofit, education and government leadership are expected to attend the event either virtually or in person. To ensure that more guests can be present, the event will be live-streamed, with an in-person audience of about 100 people.

Traditionally held in February, Report to the Community will now take place in the fall to coincide with the start of a new academic year.

In her remarks, Neufeldt will affirm CSUSM’s commitment to innovating for the future and share her vision on how the university will lead together from this moment. The CSUSM campus reopened to students and employees last month after instruction took place largely virtually during the 2020-21 school year because of the pandemic.

This will be the third Report to the Community for Neufeldt, who started in her position in July 2019. Report to the Community is an annual tradition that CSUSM has hosted since 2005.

The emcee of the event will be Scotty Lombardi, senior manager of global talent management at Hunter Industries and chair of CSUSM’s University Council.

Media members who wish to attend Report to the Community in person or would like to request an advance copy of President Neufeldt’s prepared remarks should contact Brian Hiro at bhiro@csusm.edu or 760-750-7306.

Report to the Community is hosted each year by University Council, a citizen advisory board consisting of community leaders interested in the development and welfare of the university.

North City is the presidential sponsor of Report to the Community. The premier sponsors are Kaiser Permanente and SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. The signature sponsors are Hunter Industries and Wells Fargo.
