CSUSM’s Nursing Program Ranked 12th in California

Press Release | By Eric Breier

San Marcos, CA – California State University San Marcos’ nursing program has been ranked 12th in the state by RegisteredNursing.org.

RegisteredNursing.org ranked the programs at 127 colleges and universities throughout California by assessing factors that represent how well a program supports students toward licensure and beyond.

“CSUSM’s School of Nursing has excellent baccalaureate and masters programs and we are honored to receive this external validation of the work being done by our students, faculty and staff,” said Denise Boren, director of the School of Nursing.

CSUSM’s nursing programs are accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education. The National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX) pass rate of the University’s students is 95 percent. The NCLEX is a standardized exam that each state board of nursing uses to determine whether a candidate is prepared for entry-level nursing practice.

RegisteredNursing.org works to promote excellence in nursing through enabling future nurses with the tools they need to succeed.

The site’s methodology for the rankings included NCLEX-RN exam pass rates. If schools had the same overall NCLEX-RN pass rate, additional characteristics considered included the number of students taking the NCLEX-RN exam, with the higher the number the better the ranking position; and the number of years of exam data available, the schools with more years of NCLEX-RN pass rate data earning the greater ranking position.
