OneDrive for Business

Beginning in June, CSUSM will begin a transition to Microsoft OneDrive for Business from our current cloud provider (Box). This move has significant fiscal savings (it is free to CSUSM) and addresses recent audit findings that our current provider does not meet. IITS will perform the move by working with Microsoft partners to transition files and security permissions.

This transition is mandatory, will occur in batches, and requires completion by December 2017 for all existing faculty and staff Box accounts. One week before the scheduled transition, an individual communication will go out announcing the anticipated service outage window with an option to request rescheduling to an alternative date. After the migration, staff and faculty will receive an email containing a link to the new site and information on accessing OneDrive. Additionally, any remediation details, such as a file that was not able to copy, will be reviewed in the day following the migration. Online training material is available now and IITS in-person training opportunities will be available in the fall. OneDrive space is allocated at 1TB (box.com was limited to 50GB).

We know that using OneDrive for Business will change the way you currently access your files and folders, however, the campus has already taken steps to adopt Microsoft services like exchange online, and Office 365, so this will be a natural transition.
