Festival Fuels Love for Science for Thousands | Video

By Christine Vaughan

Interactive demonstrations and hands-on science activities including rocket launches, build-a-robot stations, a magic show and animal encounters engaged more than 5,000 science enthusiasts of all ages at Super STEM Saturday on March 14.

Sponsored by ViaSat, Northrop Grumman, Genentech and Palomar Health, Super STEM Saturday is designed to expose and engage kids of all ages and their families to the diverse and exciting fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics, known as the STEM disciplines. The brainchild of The Classical Academies and held in partnership with CSUSM, Super STEM Saturday is a signature event for the San Diego Festival of Science and Engineering.

A special (and tasty) treat this year, the festival landed on Pi Day (3.1415 = 03/14/15). Attendees marked the occasion with a slice of pie, a customary tradition among math fanatics.
