University Sets Date for Presidential Investiture

On Tuesday, April 7, Cal State San Marcos will host an investiture ceremony and scholarship dinner, celebrating President Ellen Neufeldt and this next exciting chapter in our university’s history. The official ceremony will be held during U-Hour on Forum Plaza, with celebration activities planned throughout the day, including an evening event to raise support for student scholarships and faculty research and scholarly work.

An investiture is a “formal ceremony of conferring the authority and symbols of high office.” Investiture ceremonies are held during a new president’s first year in office, or at the conclusion of the first year. It is an academic rite of passage and an opportunity to welcome a new era and celebrate as a community. All faculty, staff, students and friends of CSUSM, as well as those who have been invited as official delegates and special guests, are welcome.

With a focus on “Into the Next 30 Years,” CSUSM's presidential investiture will share Neufeldt’s vision for the university and will heighten regional visibility, shining a spotlight on our campus and all of the good work being done by our faculty, staff and students.

In addition to the formal ceremony and reception, the campus will host an open-house showcase, providing tours and opportunities for guests to learn more about our university. A ticketed scholarship dinner will be held in the evening, with proceeds raising support for student and faculty initiatives and scholarships. The scholarship dinner is in lieu of the university’s annual gala, which is traditionally hosted in June.

Sponsorship opportunities are available for investiture activities and the scholarship dinner. Special thank you to our presidential sponsor, North City, and our silver sponsors: Jack and Caroline Raymond and the CSUSM Alumni Association!

Lori Brockett, associate vice president for Alumni Engagement and University Events, will be leading the campus committee and events. Any questions can be directed to Lori at investiture@csusm.edu.

We look forward to celebrating this important moment in our university’s history with you.
