Veteran Nonprofit Seeking Food Donations

Wounded Warrior Homes is a San Marcos nonprofit (1145 Linda Vista Drive, No. 104) that needs donations for its food pantry.

Since this is a small organization, it's important to call before coming with a donation. If someone just shows up, there is no guarantee that anyone will be in the office at that particular time, because the staff is in and out of the office (depending on the day or week and what's going on). There is no drop box for donations, so please call (760) 205-5050 before making a trip to ensure that a staff member will be there to receive your donation.

Here is a list of items needed:

  • Canned chicken
  • Canned tuna
  • Refried beans
  • Macaroni and cheese
  • Spaghetti sauce
  • Laundry detergent
  • Batteries (AA, AAA)
  • Individual-sized snacks
  • Coffee
  • Ziploc-type plastic bags (one gallon, one quart, for freezing food)

Please remember to check the expiration dates on items you donate.

Wounded Warrior Homes is unique because it serves veterans with conditions like PTSD and traumatic brain injury who have been denied for state programs for not having a drug or alcohol dependence. Other programs make drug/alcohol addiction a requirement of eligibility for services, leaving those veterans without a dependency out in the cold. Wounded Warrior Homes provides transitional housing for veterans, procures service dogs for veterans in need, assists veterans in claiming the government benefits to which they are entitled, helps veterans find jobs to be financially independent and find permanent housing, and supports them to live a healthy, functional life. Thank you for your generosity in giving back to those who have given their all for our country.
