WASC is Here! Regional Accreditation Visit, March 16 to 18

CSUSM’s regional accreditation through WSCUC (WASC Senior College and University Commission) is vital to all campus constituents. It tells the world that the institution is fulfilling its mission in service to students and the public good.

CSUSM was first accredited in 1993 by the Western Association of Schools and Colleges, the regional accrediting agency that serves public and private institutions throughout California, Hawaii and the Pacific as well as a limited number of institutions outside of the U.S. Since then the University’s accreditation has been re-affirmed approximately every seven years. CSUSM’s last re-accreditation visit was in 2009 and our next visit is right around the corner.

The WASC Review Team will be on campus Wednesday, March 16 through Friday, March 18. Please mark your calendars to attend the following Open Forums:

Before the visit, please take a moment to look at CSUSM’s institutional report, as well as WASC’s initial response to that report. All of this, along with the entire schedule for the visit, is available at www.csusm.edu/wasc.

“We hope that the campus community turns out for the open forums and participates in the visit,” said Regina Eisenbach, dean of Academic Programs, who also serves as the accreditation liaison officer, the campus contact to WASC. “This visit is the culmination of much hard work on the part of so many people. I look forward to showing the WASC team what a special campus we are!”
