Students Connect to Campus Life During Weeks of Welcome

By Katie Chappell

CSUSM students received a spirited reception to kick off the fall semester with a two-week celebration called Weeks of Welcome. The collaboration between Orientation and New Student Programs and partners across campus is designed to connect students to campus activities, organizations and resources to make use of during their time at Cal State San Marcos.

During Weeks of Welcome, students discovered opportunities to get involved and leave a lasting legacy at CSUSM through events such as the Student Org Fair, open houses at the Associated Students, Inc community centers and the incoming class photo with President Haynes and Crash the Cougar at the Leave Your Mark event.

Cougar Question Mart, a resource table set up on University Plaza for the first three days of the semester, acted as a one-stop-shop for students with questions or concerns the first week of class. The Dean of Students’ Office and Orientation Team members staffed the table and were available to answer students’ questions and point them in the right direction. From the First Night Barbecue and Karaoke Night in the University Student Union to the Rec Fair and Student Health Expo, Cougars received dozens of resources and got familiar with campus resources and connected with their fellow students.
