CCP Launches New Mindfulness Minor

The CSUSM Center for Contemplative Practices launched a new undergraduate minor in mindfulness in the Department of Kinesiology this fall.
This interdisciplinary minor will explore the scientific, psychological and philosophical dimensions of mindfulness and its impact on well-being.
A total of 17 units are required for the minor in mindfulness:
- PSYC 100 – Introduction to Psychology (3 units)
- KINE 150 – Foundations in Mindfulness (1 unit)
- KINE 310 – Social and Emotional Health (3 units)
- PSYC 344 – Positive Psychology (3 units)
- SOC 425 – Sociological Mindfulness (4 units)
- UNIV 495C – University Internship (3 units)
With a focus on mindfulness, well-being and contemplative practices, this interdisciplinary minor aims to provide students with both theoretical foundations and practical methods. The minor requires completing an internship, which overlaps with the student fellowship requirement.
