Undergraduate Studies Dean Chosen for National Leadership Institute

Dawn M. Formo, dean of Cal State San Marcos’ Office of Undergraduate Studies, will participate in the 2023-2024 Weekend HERS (Higher Education Resources Services) Leadership Institute, as part of the weekend immersion cohort hosted in Virginia.

Dawn FormoThanks to her nomination by Mary Oling-Sisay, CSUSM’s vice provost, Formo will be one of 64 higher education professionals who will take part in the Weekend HERS Leadership Institute, a transformational leadership development program founded to fill leadership pipelines across the United States with dynamic, inclusive and equitable leaders.

Throughout four weekends during the academic year, a diverse group of participants from 25 states across the United States and 52 unique institutions will be challenged to develop bold leadership skills to bring back to their respective institutions.

Since its founding in 1972, HERS has supported the career advancement of more than 7,000 women from over 1,200 institutions, helping to shape and support bold leaders for an equal voice in the future of higher education.

Formo won the Harry E. Brakebill Distinguished Professor Award in 2005-06 as a professor of literature and writing studies.
