CSUSM to Honor Outstanding Alumni Achievements at 2nd Annual Alumni AffairOn Saturday, Oct. 25, CSUSM will honor two outstanding graduates with the Alumni Achievement Award at the 2nd Annual Alumni Affair.  The Annual Alumni Achievement Award was established in 2007 to honor CSUSM graduates who demonstrate a commitment to the university’s ideals of scholarship, leadership, and service.Accepting the award this year are Catherine Armas-Matsumoto (B.A. Communication, 2000) and Roberto Ramirez (B.A. Liberal Studies, 2000).Catherine Armas-Matsumoto is currently an adjunct professor in the department of communication.  As an advisor for several student organizations she has volunteered over 400 hours of service and has led student members to complete important campus and community projects.  Catherine actively models the university values of intellectual engagement, community, integrity, innovation, and inclusiveness.Roberto Ramirez is the co-owner of Mountain Meadow Mushroom Farm, one of the largest growers and distributors of mushrooms in San Diego County, producing more than 100,000 pounds of product a week and generating approximately $7.5 million in annual sales.  A former Crouch Scholarship recipient, Roberto’s story of success and change is a true reflection of a CSU alumnus “Working for California.”The reception will take place on Saturday, Oct. 25, from 6:00 to 10:00 p.m. at the Hilton Garden Inn in Carlsbad.  Tickets are $50 per person and includes dinner and dancing.  Proceeds will benefit the Alumni Endowed Scholarship fund.For event information or to purchase tickets, contact Lori Brockett, director of Alumni Relations and Annual Giving at 760-750-4405.
