Poet to Speak at Arts & Lectures Event

The third Arts & Lectures event of the fall semester features Ariana Brown, a queer, Black, Mexican American poet.

The event is at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 6 on Zoom. The event is free for Cal State San Marcos students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members to reserve tickets online via the Arts & Lectures website

Brown has 13 years of experience writing, performing and teaching poetry. She is the author of the poetry collections “We Are Owed” (2021) and “Sana Sana” (2020). Drawing on her lived experience and research, Brown will trace her attempts to recover Black girlhood not just for herself, but for other Black girls, too. Combining storytelling, poems and dialogue, this artist talk is an opportunity to hear from Brown about how her identities and politics shape her writing

CSUSM’s Arts & Lectures series offers a diverse lineup of artistic, cultural and scholarly events every semester based on input and proposals from students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members. Attendees can reserve tickets online via the Arts & Lectures website.
