Bio-Artist Closes Out Arts & Lectures Series

The final Arts & Lectures event of the fall semester features bio-artist Paul Vanouse and scientist Solon Morse.

There is a student workshop on Nov. 16 at 9:30 a.m. followed by a public lecture at noon. Students interested in participating in the workshop should email gjones@csusm.edu. The workshop and lecture will take place in the Innovation Hub on the ground floor of the Extended Learning building. The event is free for Cal State San Marcos students, faculty, staff and alumni. Tickets can be reserved via the Arts & Lectures website.

The event will feature a hands-on workshop that will give students the opportunity to create art with biology and experimental imaging methods. Vanouse and Morse will talk about the dynamic history and future of art fused with science. The duo will share insights with the CSUSM community on fostering art and science in shared laboratory and creative spaces. Vanouse has been working in emerging media forms since 1990 and is the recipient of prestigious international awards.

CSUSM’s Arts & Lectures series offers a diverse lineup of artistic, cultural and scholarly events every semester based on input and proposals from students, faculty, staff, alumni and community members.
