Homecoming 2019 was a hit at Cal State San Marcos. Pops of blue could be spotted across campus as the university celebrated a full week of festivities. The campus community was greeted with colorful banners and signs and even an opportunity to show their love by honking to build spirit for the events to come.

Cougars showed up in strong numbers all week long, even though rain threatened many events. Students tie-dyed their own shirts, danced the night away at the Student Opener Competition, and enjoyed Cougar paw lattes at Crash’s Café. An exciting slate of alumni gatherings brought proud graduates together to keep the Cougar connection strong. Homecoming Saturday started early as a family reception, and CougarFest set the tone for the big games.

And the games lived up to the occasion as CSUSM’s basketball teams hosted San Francisco State. The women’s team led wire to wire in a 55-43 win that extended its perfect start to the season at 5-0. The men’s team fell 89-88 in a thrilling contest that saw 22 lead changes and resulted in the first triple-overtime game in program history. Both teams enjoyed support from Cougars fans of all ages who packed into The Sports Center to show their CSUSM pride.
