gAyPRIL Events Celebrate Pride

By Katie Chappell

Throughout the month of April, CSUSM will hold a series of events focused on educating and raising awareness of issues within the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, questioning and allied (LGBTQA) community. Sponsored by Associated Students, Inc., in partnership with departments and organizations across the university, gAyPRIL events will include workshops, trainings, lectures and discussions.

The purpose of the commemorative month is to recognize the impact that lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender individuals have had on history locally, nationally, and internationally. The University celebrates pride and advocates for queer and allied communities with events that range from social, to supportive, to educational, beginning with the annual Pride Walk on Tuesday, April 3 at noon. This month also marks the 10th anniversary of the LGBTQA Pride Center at CSUSM which will be marked by a special celebration.
