CSUSM Honored for Environmental Justice Internship Program

By Eric Breier

Cal State San Marcos received a best practice award for Social Equity and Justice at the 16th annual California Higher Education Sustainability Conference on July 9 at UC Santa Barbara.

The project was a collaboration between CSUSM’s sustainability program, under the guidance of Juliana Goodlaw-Morris, and the Office of Inclusive Excellence, under the guidance of Ariel Stevenson.

CSUSM was recognized for its creation of an environmental justice internship program, which began in fall 2018. Goodlaw-Morris noted that the collaboration is the next step in developing a comprehensive inclusive sustainability effort at CSUSM.

The California Higher Education Sustainability Conference is held annually to highlight research and case studies with "proven successes in curriculum development, operational programs and community partnerships."
