Institute Offers One-Hour Palliative Care Nursing Course Free During May

In celebration of National Nurses Month, the California State University Shiley Institute for Palliative Care is offering its online What Every Nurse Needs to Know About Palliative Care course free through May 31.

The one-hour self-paced course gives nurses and future nurses in any health care setting an overview of palliative care, as well as strategies to talk with patients and families about palliative care, help them identify health care goals, and start advance care planning.

Nurses and other health care professionals can sign up here to receive the free course promo code. Those who complete the course will earn one continuing education (CE) credit.

Palliative care is an extra level of support for people with serious or life-limiting illnesses. It focuses on managing pain, nausea, anxiety and other physical, emotional and spiritual symptoms common in serious illness, so patients and families can live their best lives possible.
